Leafs vs Sabres

Leafs at home against Buffalo tonight. The Buds are hoping to extend their win streak to three games which would be a season high. I am also looking forward to the return of Mike Komisarek to the blue line but wonder at the same time which defenceman will sit this one out? Certainly Ron Wilson has no intention of sitting Carl Gunnarson so it will come down to Luke Schenn or Garnet Exelby, both of whom have had a weak season.

Not to pick on Komisarek, I like the gritty defenceman but the guy hasn't registered a point yet in this entire season. Quad injury notwithstanding, he has played sixteen games and not managed to crack the score sheet yet, hopefully tonight that will all change and we will see Gustavson stand on his head as well.

A few weeks ago, Don Cherry made a comment on his highly popular show, "Coach's Corner", that he thought that Joey MacDonald would make an awesome starting goalie for the Buds. I think if Gustavson doesn't sort himself out soon they should give MacDonald a chance. My opinion on the whole season is that the Leafs have played really well, and the one thing stopping them from being a true force is their lack of goal-tending. Tonight should be highly entertaining! Go Leafs Go!

True Defender of the True Faith!

I declare Bishop Thomas Tobin, bishop of Providence, Rhode Island a true defender of the true faith.
U.S. representative Patrick Kennedy (D-RI)said in an interview that Bishop Tobin had asked him to refrain from communion on account of his pro-abortion political position.
I love Bishop Tobin's strong stand in defence of life and lament the fact that so few of his brother bishops possess his courage and dedication to the pro-life cause. Would that every diocese had a sheppard like him, the faith would spread like a wild fire throughout the earth.
God bless you Your Excellency, please come be the bishop of Ottawa!

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle!

The purpose of this second blog entry will be to formally place this blog under the protection and patronage of St. Michael the Archangel. For as long as I can remember I have had a very special devotion to this great saint, the prince of the heavenly hosts.
The name Michael, translates roughly from the Hebrew as, "who is like God". This is frequently taken to mean that St. Michael was so beautiful as to be comparable to God, or that his goodness was so great that he was indeed something like God. This is incorrect. In the ancient Jewish tradition, "Who is like God?", was the challenge that St. Michael issued to Lucifer, when Lucifer declared himself in opposition to the Almighty. Lucifer, a member of the Seraphim, the greatest of all the hosts of angels, was a mighty angel said to have twelve wings when other Seraphim had but six. In the Jewish tradition it was Michael who stood up to Lucifer and led the other loyal angels in battle against the defectors from heaven.
My wife is due in January with our second child and if she delivers a boy we will name him Michael, in honour of the great angel and saint. He may not end up a soldier like his father but if we raise him correctly then by the grace of God he will be a great soldier of Christ.

First time blogger

Hello everyone and welcome to the first entry to my new blog. I have been tempted to start blogging for a long time now and have finally succumbed to the temptation. My aims for this blog are as follows. Firstly, this blog is to give a voice to all those who admire goodness, truth and beauty and who find it under constant and effective attack every where we turn. I am a Roman Catholic man, faithful to his holiness Pope Benedict XVI and to the magisterium of our holy mother the church. I am a married father of one two year old girl and my wife and I are expecting our second child at the end of January, Deo Gratias! I am a member of the Canadian military and am a veteran of the Afghan war, I am also a rabid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Go Leafs Go!

I intend to post regularly on subjects of a wide diversity. Everything from current events and politics to affairs of the church, the great outdoors and the Leafs. My favourite blog is, "Lair of the Catholic Caveman", and my wife sometimes says that she has become an internet widow. So if I miss a few days of posts that is because I am devoting time to my wife and family or am on the road with my job.
